When we conducted the first two Tour de Hillingdon rides last year, we got great feedback on what riders enjoyed but also some requests for improvements. We took our time to assemble these requests and provide location information for them, including which council wards any problematic areas were in.

We passed these on through various channels, including the Cycling Suggestions page on the Hillingdon website, between December 2025 and February 2026. We hadn’t heard anything for many months but followed up with emails to relevant cabinet members. There was a further delay whilst local elections came and went in May so we followed up again after the elections and in late July we received a response from Sophie Wilmot, Transport & Community Projects Team Leader at LB Hillingdon.

An email included a PDF document showing each of our requests and the response which ranged from “request passed to colleagues in Highways to carry out as part of their maintenance duties” to “Further investigation will be required to determine whether this request is feasible”.

There was a further caveat to “note that even where the Council has outlined that further investigations will be undertaken, any proposals that may result would be subject to identification of funding and Cabinet Member approvals“.

Despite the managing of expectations, we were pleased to see that there may be some potential for progressing these issues and will keep you updated as we hear any more specifics.

Thanks are due to Sophie Wilmot and Cllr Wayne Bridges.
