You may recall some months ago that we met with Bassam Mahfouz, our local Assembly Member, about our activities and the state of cycling in Hillingdon.

City Hall, home of the Greater London Assembly

We made an enquiry at the time about progress on cycling infrastructure at the Polish War Memorial and asked if he could follow up with TfL. Bassam’s office got in touch on the 4th March 2026 to give us the following update directly from TfL:

We are currently investigating the feasibility of Healthy Streets improvements at the A40 Polish War Memorial roundabout. This includes infrastructure for cycling that will allow connection to strategic routes within the borough. We hope to be able to discuss any proposals with LB Hillingdon later this year. We would also consult with the wider community on any proposal we are considering taking forward.

Without any further detail, we can only wait to see what this investigation produces, and hope that both TfL and LBH give us plenty of notice on any consultations that take place.

Since Bassam is an AM for both Ealing and Hillingdon, we also received a copy of the plans Ealing Council have for cycling between 2024 and 2035 which you may be interested to see here and contrast with the Hillingdon plan here.
