In a recent post from LCC we learned that according to TfL, cycling journeys are up 12.7 percent across all of London in 2025 compared to 2024, with an average of 1.5 million journeys being cycled across London daily,

This is amazing news, and suggests a staggering 60% of all daily cycling journeys in England are in London. This growth is not restricted to Central London either, boroughs such as Waltham Forest and our own neighbours in Hounslow are singled at as making significant progress in developing safe cycling routes.
According to LCC “a third of all cycling in London takes place on a Cycleway, even though these only account for 2.5 percent of cyclable roads. 29 per cent of Londoners now live within 400m of a Cycleway”. What is a Cycleway? TfL Cycleways are “high-quality cycle routes that link communities, businesses and destinations across London. They’re easy to navigate, helping riders of all levels feel safer and more confident”. The only one we have access to here in Hillingdon is the towpath of the Grand Union Canal heading from Stockley Park, branching north to Northolt and Greenford before heading east and eventually ending up at “Little Venice” in Warwick Avenue.
