Field End Flyers is a club for primary school aged children to learn to cycle and develop some good cycling skills. The club meets on Saturday mornings, during school term time 9:30-11:30am, at Field End school, where they have a cycling track and a couple of playgrounds we can use. Last year we had 647 attendances over 25 sessions, so an average of 26 per session and we have a waiting list of children wanting to join.
Alan is the chairman, but he plans to retire at the end of this school year. So, to keep the club going we need a new chair and some more volunteers, especially coaches, and there is money available for training coaches as the bank balance is healthy. We also need a new publicity manager and help with bike maintenance. A decision will be made at Christmas as to whether the club can continue, as if dissolved we will need time to sort out all the assets.
The parents and children who attend the club are so grateful to the volunteers and it would be such a shame if the club closes. It would be great if anyone interested comes along to a session to find out what we do and if they would enjoy helping.
